Zero Conditional (Present) الشرط من النوعية 0  

·         Structure: If + Present Simple, Present Simple  القاعدة:  

·         Use: For general truths, scientific facts, or laws of nature.

الاستخدام: للحقائق العامة أو الحقائق العلمية أو قوانين الطبيعة.

·         Examples:

If you heat water to 100°C, it boils.    إذا قمت بتسخين الماء إلى 100 درجة مئوية، فإنه يغلي                          .

                 If you add two and two, you get four.  وإذا أضفت اثنين واثنين، فستحصل على أربعة                                        .

 

First Conditional (Likely or real future situations.)

الشرط الأول (المواقف المستقبلية المحتملة أو الحقيقية.)

·         Structure: If + Present Simple, Will + Infinitiveالقاعدة :

·         Use: For likely or real future situations and their probable results.

• الاستخدام: للمواقف المستقبلية المحتملة أو الحقيقية ونتائجها المحتملة.

Examples:

If we reduce waste, we will protect the environment. إذا قللنا من النفايات، فسنحمي البيئة                         

 

If it rains, we will stay at home.                                                                       إذا هطل المطر سنبقى في المنزل.

 

Second Conditional (Impossible in present)

·         Structure: If + Past Simple, Would + Infinitiveالقاعدة   

·         Use: For unlikely or hypothetical situations and their probable results in present.

للمواقف غير المحتملة أو الافتراضية ونتائجها المحتملة في الوقت الحاضر.

·         Examples: 

If women ruled the world, there would be less war          ..         لو حكمت النساء العالم لكانت الحروب أقل

    If I knew a good joke, I would tell you.    لو كنت أعرف نكتة جيدة، لقلت لك                                                           .

 

Third Conditional (Impossible in past)

·         Structure: If + Past Perfect, would/could + Have + Past Participle القاعدة :

·         Use: To describe a past situation that did not happen and its hypothetical result.

الاستخدام: لوصف موقف سابق لم يحدث ونتيجته الافتراضية.

Example:

If I had found a job here, I wouldn’t have emigrated. لو وجدت عملاً هنا، لما هاجرت                            

If you had studied, you would have passed the exam. لو كنت قد درست، كنت قد نجحت في الامتحان                             .

 

 

 Mixed Conditionals       مجتمعة:     أدوات الشرط 

Use: Mixed conditionals help us talk about how a past event affects now, or how a current situation would change the past.

الاستخدام: تساعدنا الجمل الشرطية المختلطة في التحدث عن كيفية تأثير حدث سابق على الحاضر، أو كيف سيغير الوضع الحالي الماضي.

1. Past Affects Present

·        Structure: If + Past Perfect, Would + Base Verbالقاعدة: 

Example:

If I hadn’t found work here, I wouldn’t live here now. لو لم أجد عملاً هنا، لما كنت أعيش هنا الآن.

If you hadn’t learned to read, you couldn’t enjoy books today. إذا لم تتعلم القراءة، فلن تتمكن من الاستمتاع بالكتب اليوم.

 

2. Present Affects Past

·         Structure: If + Past Simple, Would Have + Past Participleالقاعدة :

·         Example:

If you weren’t so mature, you wouldn’t have made such good decisions before.

إذا لم تكن ناضجًا جدًا، فلن تكون قد اتخذت مثل هذه القرارات الجيدة من قبل.

                 If she wasn’t so strong, she wouldn’t have overcome her challenges. 

لو لم تكن قوية جدًا، لما تمكنت من التغلب على تحدياتها.

 

Note: “unless” means“ if not” in conditional sentences"       Unless    " تعني "إن لم يكن" في الجمل الشرطية

We will not protect the environment unless we reduce waste. لن نحمي البيئة إلا إذا قللنا من النفايات   .

We will not protect the environment if we don’t reduce waste. لن نحمي البيئة إذا لم نقلل من النفايات.

 

 

Wishes التمنيات

Wishes in Present      التمنيات في الحاضر

·         Structure: Subject + wish + Subject + Past Simple.القاعدة

·         Examples:

I wish I had more time for sustainable development projects.

أتمنى لو كان لدي المزيد من الوقت لمشاريع التنمية المستدامة.

She wishes she were a member at an international organization.   تتمنى لو كانت عضواً في منظمة دولية. 

 

They wish they knew more about advances in science and technology.

يتمنون أن يعرفوا المزيد عن التقدم في العلوم والتكنولوجيا.

 

Wishes in Past              التمنيات في الماضي

·         Structure: Subject + wish + Subject + Past Perfect.القاعدة 

·         Examples:

I wish I had studied more about women and power in college.

أتمنى لو أنني درست المزيد عن المرأة والسلطة في الكلية.

He wishes he had attended the seminar on sustainable development.

وتمنى لو أنه حضر الندوة حول التنمية المستدامة.

We wish we had invested in technology advancements earlier.

نتمنى لو أننا استثمرنا في التقدم التكنولوجي في وقت سابق.

 

 

Wishes with “Would”الأمنيات بعبارة   

For wishes about behavior or actions you want to change, you can use

بالنسبة للرغبات المتعلقة بالسلوك أو الإجراءات التي تريد تغييرها، يمكنك استخدامها

 “I wish + Subject + would + Base Verb.”القاعدة

 

·         Examples:

She wishes her students would understand the importance of education.

وتتمنى أن يفهم طلابها أهمية التعليم.

We wish people would take citizenship responsibilities seriously.

نتمنى أن يأخذ الناس مسؤوليات المواطنة على محمل الجد.
